Although Outlook
Express 6 automatically compresses your mail folders when they reach 20
percent wasted space, you might periodically want to compress the folders
manually. To do this, run Outlook Express and choose Tools|Options. When the
Options dialog box opens, click the Maintenance tab.
Click Clean Up Now.
When the Local File Cleanup dialog opens, click Compact. When the operation
finishes, click Close. Back in Options, click Close to dismiss the dialog box.

Create new email message.
If BCC: is not shown below To: and CC: Select View from Menu Bar - then select All Headers.
In a chain letter copy only the portion to be forwarded and paste into your new message.
It is wise to have a second email address, for using on the internet and for sending chain mail, to prevent your primary address from being filled with Spam. Type your secondary email address into the To: portion of your email. Then click on BCC. This will bring up your address book. Now select members and copy into the BCC box at the right by selecting the appropriate button.

collection of various files compressed for quicker download than sending the
files individually. Click here for a Freeware tool which can

When you connect to a web site, your IP
address is given to the server so that it can return the requested page to
your computer. The physical location of your Internet Service Provider can be
determined by the IP address, if you are not using a server cache. Only by
order of your local police can your ISP release personal information about
you.
However, because your IP address is known to every web site that
you visit, it is possible to attack your computer across the Internet without
knowing its location, i.e. a denial of service attack.
In some cases
when you use a router at home, you may have one or more computers connected.
Your computers will not be accessible if your router is set up correctly
and/or if you have a firewall connected and correctly configured to block
intruders.

If you use an online email service you are protected when
you read your email. When you open an attachment however the file is
downloaded to your machine and if there is a virus encoded into the attachment
it is your machine which will be infected. Of course if you have a good
Anti-virus program such as Norton Anti-virus and if you keep your files
updated most viruses will be Quarantined for you to delete at a later time.
Q. How do I delete these quarantined files?
A. Open the folder
called Quarantine within your Norton Antivirus folder. Delete all files found
there including those files that may be in other folders within your
Quarantine folder (i.e. Incoming and/or Portal).
Back to FAQ list
I don't know of any viruses that infect
the address book of an email program. Most viruses will use the address book
as a tool to spread and infect other computers.
Q. Would it be safer to
type in the addresses each time you send e-mail?
A. Definitely. Each
individual needs to make that decision for themselves. You are trading off
safety for convenience by using an address book. You are exposing your
computer to these same threats each time you go on the internet. There is no
hack-proof method of ensuring your safety when browsing the internet, reading
your email or for that matter even installing a program that you just
purchased at your local computer store.

If you just
received a Virus Warning be sure to research it before taking any action.
Visit http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?cid=10007
before sending that warning to others and see if it really is a
virus. There have been many hoaxes that have asked people to delete virus
infected files from their hard drives. In most cases they are files required
to run your computer.
